The ninth Pokémon movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy has suffered a decline in its box office rating, dropping to third place overall in its second weekend and fourth in its third, from second place in its opening weekend. It continues to be beaten by Floundering Japan (日本沈没), which premiered the same day, but is also affected by the Japanese premieres of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on July 22 and Tales from Earthsea (ゲド戦記) on July 29, directed by Gorō Miyazaki, son of Hayao Miyazaki.
