U.S. National Championships will have new opportunities on the final day

The U.S. National Championships are being held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis from July 5 through July 7 with pre-registration on July 4.

Among the main events for the TCG Tournament on Friday, July 5 which consists of half of the Junior, Senior, Master Swiss-style rounds for the TCG tournament. The other half being completed on Saturday, July 6 where the top 32 players will play down until the top 16 have been determined who will battle it out on Sunday, July 7 when the winner is determined.

The Video Game Tournament which will feature Black 2 and White 2 games begins on Saturday with the Master division Swiss rounds beginning at 9 a.m. and the Junior and Senior Division Swiss rounds beginning at 3:30 p.m. The tournament culminates Sunday with all three divisions participating in single elimination for the top 16 players.

For those who didn't receive enough championship points during the regular season, there will be a Last Chance for Championship Points tournament on Sunday. To be invited to the World Championships a players needs to have accumulated 400 championship points throughout the season. This tournament is limited to the first 256 Masters, 128 Seniors and 128 Junior division players. Competitors eliminated in the top 16 will receive 50 championship points. Players eliminated in the top 8 will receive 100 championship points while the winners will receive 200 championships points.

Also taking place Sunday will be a few On-Demand TCG tournaments with matches being a single game, single-elimination. The tournaments will be 8- and 16-player matches. For the 8-player tournaments, first place winners will receive four Pokémon TCG booster packs, second receiving two packs and third and fourth gaining only one pack. The 16-person tournaments, first place winners will receive eight Pokémon TCG booster packs, second receiving four packs and third and fourth gaining only two packs.
