From September 21 to 23, users are encouraged to edit any {{bp|Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance|NIWA}} wikis they have never/rarely edited. At the end of the event, a random participant will receive a {{wp|United States dollar|US$}}20 {{bp|Nintendo eShop}} gift card. 

Participants must have an account on the wiki that they are contributing to, to be eligible to win the gift card. Each participant's edits are ranked 1 to 5. Therefore, the more substantial the edits are, the more likely a participant will win the gift card. NIWA Network considers these edits to be acceptable:

Participants must fill out the [http://niwanetwork.org/cross-wiki-weekend-2018/ submission form] by September 30 to be considered for the gift card.
