The spring issue of Pokémon Fan, a publication of Pokémon USA, revealed the English title of the eighth Pokémon movie, called Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero- Lucario in Japan. No release date for Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was revealed, but the magazine confirmed the movie will premiere in the United States in 2006.

An article accompanying several screenshots from the movie confirmed the English names of some characters and locations in the movie. The title of wave-guiding hero became aura guardian. The names of Aaron and Rota Town were kept the same as in the Japanese version.
