Pokémon announces 2012 National Championships

The top Pokémon Trading Card Game and Video Game players from across the United States will be competing at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana from June 29th, 2012 until July 1st 2012 in the US National Championships. They will be competing for invitations and travel awards to the World Championships in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The pre-registration for Pokémon Trading Card Game will take place on June 28th from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. and the general registration will take place from 8:00a.m. until 8:30a.m. on June 29th, with the first half of Swiss rounds beginning soon afterward. On June 30th, the last half of Swiss rounds will happen, followed by Top Cut matches from top 128 to top 16. Sunday July 1st will hold the final top cut, from top 16 until the winner is determined.

For Video Game players, pre-registration will take place on June 29th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. For the Video Game players, the General Registration for the Masters division players will take place on June 30th from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. while the Juniors and Seniors Division players can register from 2:00p.m. until 2:30p.m. The players meeting for the Masters Division players will take place at 9:00 a.m. while the players meeting for the Juniors and Seniors Division players will take place at 3:00 p.m.

Trading Card Game players must have the following items -

  • Legal 60 card deck
  • Randomizer and damage/Status Condition counters
  • Prepared decklist for registration

Video Game players must have the following items -

  • A copy of Pokémon Black or White version for the Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS systems
  • Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS
  • A team of legal Pokémon according to the tournament rules.

The divisions for the Pokémon Trading Card Game and Video Game players are as follows -

  • Junior Division - Players born in 2001 or later
  • Senior Division - Players born in 1997, 1998, 1999, or 2000
  • Master Division - Players born in 1996 or earlier
