The Battle of Alola international competition has been announced. This will be the first competition that will by played on the Pokémon Sun and Moon games. Players may register starting today, until 11:59 p.m. UTC on Dec. 15th. The competition will last from midnight UTC on Dec. 16th until 11:59 p.m. UTC on Dec. 18th. There will be 50,000 spots available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Players born in or after 2002 will be in the Junior/Senior Division. Players born in or before 2001 will be in the Master Division. The rankings will be announced some time in December. Junior/Senior Division players may only battle between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. local time.

This competition will use the Single Battles format. Six Pokémon will be required to be registered in the Battle Box on the PC, and only three will be used in each battle. Each participant that wins or losses at least three battles will receive 50 Battle Points. Only Ash-Greninja and Pokémon with the Alola Pokédex numbers: 1-204, 206-288, and 293-299 may be used. Memento and Parting Shot cannot be known by Pokémon that are enter, being prohibited due to a related to these moves. Participants may only use one special Pokémon, such as Solgaleo and Lunala. Each Pokémon will be automatically set to level 50.

Each battle will last a maximum of 10 minutes. Players will have 90 seconds to decide which three Pokémon they will battle with and one minute per turn to attack or switch Pokémon. Participants may battle 15 times a day for a maximum of 45.
