A Nintendo Switch Lite
Nintendo have announced the Nintendo Switch Lite, a handheld-only variant of the Nintendo Switch. It will be released worldwide on September 20, 2019.
One of the primary features of the flagship Nintendo Switch is its ability to be played in one of three different modes: Handheld Mode, Tabletop Mode, or TV Mode. In contrast, the Nintendo Switch Lite can only be played in Handheld Mode. The Nintendo Switch Lite does not come with Joy-Con controllers; instead, the system and buttons all form a single piece of hardware. As a result, the Nintendo Switch Light does not have HD rumble or an infrared camera. Additionally, the directional buttons have been replaced with a D-Pad. For games that require Joy-Cons, such as 1-2 Switch, they must be purchased separately.
The system will be available in three different colors: yellow, grey and turquoise.
It is marketed as a cheaper alternative to the flagship Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition
Additionally, a Pokémon special edition variant, the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition, will be available after its launch. This special edition is white with red and blue buttons, and features lineart of the cover Legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield, Zacian and Zamazenta. It will be released in Japan on Nov. 1, 2019 and in North America, Europe, and Australia on Nov. 8, 2019.
