The release date of the game is on September 2009. Various functions and powers of will be seen, featuring a new element.
The release date of the game in Japan is sometime during Fall 2009, as previously reported. The site include details about the {{bp|Generation II}} {{bp|starter Pokémon}}, {{p|Chikorita}}, {{p|Cyndaquil}} and {{p|Totodile}}, and new artwork for them. New artwork can also be seen for the {{bp|Version mascot}}s, {{p|Lugia}} and {{p|Ho-Oh}}, and for the {{bp|player character}}s, {{ga|Gold}} and {{ga|Soul}}, the new girl {{bp|player character}}.

The site also provided screenshots seen on the images from CoroCoro. It features a screenshot of how choosing the {{bp|starter Pokémon}} will be like. It also shows that the {{bp|PokéGear}} will be redesigned with a new layout and pops up when ''X'' or ''Start'' is pressed. This new navigation system will be accessed on the touch screen. Two images show that the player's starter will follow them, much like {{bp|Red's Pikachu (game)|Pikachu}} did in {{v2|Yellow}}. The final screenshot shows that an image will appear once again when entering a new area, similar to {{v2|FireRed and LeafGreen|s}}.
Another one of the site's updates confirms that the {{bp|Pikachu-colored Pichu}} will unlock an event involving the {{bp|Notched-ear Pichu}}. It will occur near the {{bp|Ilex Forest}} {{bp|Ilex Forest Shrine|Shrine}}.
A third update confirms that the {{bp|Movie Arceus|special Arceus}} to be given away starting June will have an effect in {{v2|Platinum}}.
