The 24-year-old talent Kaori Manabe (眞鍋かをり) will guest star in the ninth movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy (ポケモンレンジャーと蒼海の王子 マナフィ), in her first voice acting job.

Nicknamed "the queen of blogs", Manabe, supported by the many anime-loving otaku, is a perfect match for the series, which attracts nearly 35 million people (grossing ¥38 billion) at eight productions.

Manabe's character is a descendant of the people of the water (水の民), who hold the key to the story. The star of an underwater Pokémon show, she is an especially cute character with large round eyes. Manabe, who fits the role of an intellectual, spirited character, was very happy to have been selected: "To be able to act in a world-famous Pokémon movie, it is like a dream come true." (世界的に有名なポケモン映画に出演できるなんて夢のようです。)

On the other hand, the villain, a captain of pirates, is to be played by the actor Hiroshi Fujioka ( 藤岡 弘、). Fujioka says, "My character will put the Pokémon to the test. 'That which I want will not be easily gotten. I will seize my dream with my own hands!' is the message that I intend to convey!"
