The Mega Melee competition has been announced. All participants will receive 50 Battle Points. Players may register between midnight UTC on Sept. 14 and 11:59 p.m. UTC on Sept. 21. The competition will run from midnight UTC on Sept. 22 until 11:59 p.m. UTC on Sept. 24. The rankings will be announced some time in Oct. Participants born in or after 2002 will be in the Junior/Senior Division. Participants born in or before 2001 will be in the Master Division. Junior/Senior Division players may only play from 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. local time.

One Pokémon will be used for each battle. Participants must win or lose one battle to be eligible for the Battle Points. Pokémon transferred from the earlier generations may be used. All items may be used in this competition, but each held item must be different for each Pokémon. Each Pokémon must also be different. Every Pokémon will be automatically set to level 50. Each match will last a maximum of 10 minutes. Players will have 90 seconds to choose the Pokémon that they will battle with, and 30 seconds per turn to use a move or switch Pokémon. Players may battle 15 times a day, for a maximum of 45 battles.
