As well as revealing exciting information about Pokémon X and Y, Nintendo's E3 edition of Nintendo Direct showcased an upcoming title in the Super Smash Bros. series, scheduled for release in 2014 on both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS.

Pikachu is set to return, alongside new challengers Villager and Mega Man

It was announced that Super Smash Bros. veteran Pikachu will be returning, and the trailer appears to show a new version of the Pokémon Stadium stage present in past titles. However, it is currently unknown whether or not Pikachu will be joined by other characters from the Pokémon franchise.

Other characters set to return are Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Bowser and Pit. Additionally, two new challengers have been announced as Villager (the main character from the Animal Crossing series) and Capcom's Mega Man.
