Earlier today, the official Pokémon Twitter account posted an image teasing at an announcement for {{p|Pikachu}} fans. Since then, images have surfaced online of the limited edition Pikachu themed {{bp|Nintendo 3DS XL}} console in North American packaging, with multiple sources stating that it will be released on March 24, 2013. This follows from a brief appearance of the console in a recent advertisement for {{bp|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity}}, which is being released in North America on the same day.

The limited edition console was previously released in Japan last August as {{bp|Pokémon Center (store)|Pokémon Center store}} exclusive, where it quickly sold out. It was then released in Europe as a Limited Edition in December 2012.
