The game was revealed during a {{bp|Pokémon Direct}} presentation.


The games have a brand-new visual style, resembling the artwork seen in the background of the original games' menu screens. {{bp|Mega Evolution}}, a mechanic introduced long after the original games' release, will also appear in the remake.
