A new anime special, Pokémon XY: Shards of Space, will be screened in Japanese planetariums such as the Konica Minolta Planetarium "Tenkū" in Tokyo Skytree Town and Ikebukuro's Konica Minolta Planetarium "Manten" in Sunshine City from July 19-September 7 and from July 12-August 31.

Special blurb

The story starts with Satoshi and friends paying a visit to PAXA, an organisation which does research and development on space. Satoshi and friends get excited hearing about the wonders of space and the Pokemon that might be found in space from a female astronaut stationed at PAXA. However, they also learn of the crisis caused by the threat of space debris, and the growing problem of space junk, when suddenly a siren rings out. Shockingly, Team Rocket have infiltrated PAXA, aiming to hijack the facility. In the midst of this emergency, trouble also occurs with the man-made satellite defense system. If nothing is done, it will crash into a large piece of debris, which in turn has the risk of causing even more space debris. If there's any more space debris, then the space around the planet will be full, and mankind will have its path to space closed off forever.
