The Ultra No Holds Barred tournament has been announced. All participants will receive 50 Battle Points. Players may register between midnight UTC on May 17 and 11:59 p.m. UTC on May 24. The competition will run from midnight UTC on May 25 until 11:59 p.m. UTC on May 27. Participants born in 2003 or later will be in the Junior/Senior Division. Players born in 2002 or earlier will be in the Master Division. Junior/Senior Division players may only play between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. local time. The results will be announced in June.

This competition will use the Single Battles format. Only Pokémon with National Pokédex numbers 001-806 can be used. The following Pokémon cannot be used: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Solgaleo, and Lunala. Pokémon transferred from previous generation games can be used. Pokémon in the player's party can have the same held item as each other, and multiples of each species of Pokémon may also be used. All Pokémon will be automatically set to level 100.

Three Pokémon will be used each match. Each battle will last a maximum of ten minutes. Players will have 90 seconds to pick which four Pokémon they will battle with and 30 seconds to select a move or switch Pokémon. Participants may battle 15 times a day for a maximum of 45 battles.
