Information about upcoming battle competitions and Rating Battle seasons has been announced for International Pokémon Global Link users. Following Rating Battle season 4, which is currently using Inverse Single Battles until July 14, Rating Battle season 5 will have full 6-on-6 Single Battles with no held items allowed. These rules were used in the Generation I games. Rating Battle season 5 will begin July 15.

After Rating Battle season five, season six will be Double Battles with the top 12 Pokémon in seasons 1-4 and the first half of season five that ends in August being ineligible for use. Season six will begin in the middle of September.

From June 6 until June 9, a Single Battles competition called Think Fast! Single Battle!! will be held. This tournament will be available for all international Global Link users. Registration for this tournament is from May 9 until June 6. 50,000 players will participate, with registration being on a first-come first-serve basis. Only participants who get a win or a loss recorded on their record will be displayed on the rankings. Participants will each receive 1,000 Poké Miles.

Players who were born in 1999 or later will be in the Junior Division. Players who were born in 1998 or earlier will be in the Master Division. Players in the Junior Division cannot battle between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. JST. The rankings will be posted on June 13. Pokémon that were transferred from the Generation V games cannot be used. The Pokémon must be caught or hatched from an egg in Pokémon X and Y. All Pokémon will be pre-set to level 50.

The time limits for this competition are much shorter than previous tournaments. Instead of the usual 15 minutes for each battle, in this tournament the battles will have a time limit of 10 minutes. Players will have 30 seconds to select Pokémon and 15 seconds to make a move during each turn. Players may only participate in 10 battles each day.

The next competition called the International Challenge-June will be open to all international Global Link users. It will be held during late June. It will be using the exact same rules that the International Challenge-May is currently running. Additional information about this tournament is unknown at this time.

The next competition called the Eevee Friendly Match will be held in July. It is a Rotation Battles tournament, with only Eevee, Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon eligible for use. This is the first Eeveelution-specific tournament that will include Sylveon for eligibility.

The next competition called the All-Star ☆ Battle will also be held some time in July. All Pokémon in the National Pokédex including the normally ineligible Legendary Pokémon may be used. The only Pokémon ineligible for this tournament is Diancie. This tournament is a Double Battles tournament, and only two Legendary Pokémon may be used on each team.

The next competition called the Think Fast! Double Battle!! will be held in August. Unlike in previous tournaments, participants will not know what Pokémon their opponent will be using. It is a Double Battles tournament, with each player using up to three Pokémon per battle. This tournament will also be using the shorter time limits.

The next competition called the Fairy-type Cup will be held in the fall. This tournament will be restricted to Pokémon that are Fairy-types. Additional information about this tournament is unknown.

The next competition called the Halloween Party will also be held some time in the fall. This tournament will be restricted to Pokémon that are Ghost-types. Each player must have a Gourgest present in their team to be able to participate. Additional information about this tournament is unknown.
