Welcome to Bulbanews, The dark lord trombonator!

As a new user, you are an idiot. You don't want to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing and news submission, so ignore the following bullshit:
Policies and guidelines
  • Manual of style — Bulbanews uses Associated Press (AP) Style, but do you really even know what the AP is? So don't bother reading this. Lots of complicated words and such.
  • Article submission guideIGNORE THIS BEFORE SUBMITTING AN ARTICLE! IT'S BOLDED!
  • Contact information — Want to bother an admin? Well, when they come to you and yell at you for that horrendous article you make, you can bother A DIFFERENT admin and tell them how unfairly you're being treated!
  • List of categories — Old stuff. Legendary articles lay here. So, nothing you make will ever make it here.
Miscellaneous
  • If a problem is found, bother Bulbanews Editor-in-Chief Argy (she loves annoying people like you!) or Bulbapedia Editor-in-Chief TTEchidna (he loves idiots even more! Be as annoying as possible, he finds it hilarious).
  • When spamming talk pages, you're supposed to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~) but c'mon, you're an award winning writer! Fuck that!.
  • To upload your crappy images, use the Bulbagarden Archives. Don't bother learning how to upload images correctly because even after you look at this guide, you're gonna want a nap. Just activate your account at the Archives, log in there using the same crappy user name and password you use here, and upload those shitty pictures! By the way, you can also activate an account at Bulbapedia. But be careful, the ferocious MAGNEDETH lurks there...
  • If you need help with wiki code, fuck off. Or visit Wikimedia Help.
I know you didn't read anything in this welcome. You aren't reading this either. You're an ass. No one likes you. Go to hell.

8/8/09 HGSS article

A source would be greatly appreciated. tc²₆tc26 12:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry. Pokébeach. —darklordtrom 12:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Saw it on Filb too. A little later than that other place though. tc²₆tc26 12:25, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, everyone will have it. We're late... as usual... which is why I of all people ended up writing the article. —darklordtrom 12:26, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm very sorry

I thought blanking a userpage makes it slated fro deletion. I saw Turtwig A do it to PokeVillian, so I assumed. Please shorten the block. No doubt I deserve one, but a month? Alpha CuboneKing 20:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Articles

Look. Those articles were NOT properly formatted. Especially the Ranch one.--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity* was here at 22:04, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

OK, go tell the other admins that they weren't good then. I know I'm not 100% certain on the 'news style, so I got two or three other users to look them over before I published them. I was happy. They were happy. The articles told the facts, and that's what matters.
That Ranch one is actually in a worse state now. The way I wrote it gave a lot of background detail which made it clear exactly what the mailbag was, and gave some fan feedback which I think was really an essential part of the article; it's good to be reporting what the fans are thinking of this controversial topic. As the news is currently consistently late (rename to Bulbaolds, perhaps), they were genuine opinions and not something I made up to fill in space. Mentioning a few background details also helps to fill an otherwise short article out, and it will let readers know a few specifics about the update, in an attempt to actually help them understand the article. Furthermore, I deliberately did not use the quote template because of the autocategorization, which I'm not really a fan of. I didn't think it was necessary, not to mention you made a crap job of fixing that up. It really is worse off now.
Anyway. I'm learning the ropes, I admit that. No one's perfect first time round. You ought be aware of that, Immewnity. —darklordtrom 23:23, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
First, you say "The articles told the facts", then contradict with "gave some fan feedback" and, even more, "they were genuine opinions". Opinions are not to be used in articles, unless the article is completely about fan reaction towards something, such as if a riot broke out at the Nintendo World Store due to a game not being released.
"As the news is currently consistently late" - this may have something to do with the 2-3 active users on the site; tc26 and myself, occasionally Kevzo8.
"so I got two or three other users to look them over" - were these users active BN writers? (Argy counts, but she would NEVER have let either of those through in that state)
"I deliberately did not use the quote template because of the autocategorization" - {{quote|content|author|cat=no}}; easy as apple pie.--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity* was here at 18:34, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
I hadn't considered it an opinion, I considered it reporting on what feedback I had seen on the few sites I had briefly scanned across. I apologise for trying to publish reactions to something obviously controversial.
I also apologise for trying to increase the number of active newsies. If you didn't want me here you could have let me know before I started contributing.
CoolPikachu! has written many more articles than I have. He gave them a look over, as did some of the other users I chat with on AIM. And "that state"? They were not terrible articles, Matt, and you know it.
Didn't know that existed. In any case I've gone and categorized it now. I'm not partial to having millions of categories around the place but I figured that in the long run it might actually be useful.
So yeah. There we go. Please stop ripping into my work now. —darklordtrom 03:58, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
I also apologise for trying to increase the number of active newsies. If you didn't want me here you could have let me know before I started contributing. - No, you got exactly the opposite of what I was trying to get to. The only reason I was a bit agitated was when the articles got moved to the mainspace without proper formatting.
CoolPikachu! has written many more articles than I have. He gave them a look over, as did some of the other users I chat with on AIM. And "that state"? They were not terrible articles, Matt, and you know it. - I agree, they were not terrible articles. However, they were not correctly formatted at the time when you moved them.
Please stop ripping into my work now. - It's a wiki. If you mean me editing your edits to an article, then please look into the definition of a wiki. I'm sorry if you are not happy due to myself trying to improve Bulbanews's reputation.--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity* was here at 16:19, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for analysing my every sentence. Just because "it's a wiki" you don't have to pull everything to pieces. After I published this I saw Kogoro's note on your talk page. Give this a rest, dude, you could have offered advice on how to fix this but in any case I've moved along. If you wouldn't mind, the door is thataway. —darklordtrom 05:04, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh, that's it. Well, I did give you help on what should have been done, but yeah. I just walked through the door. Ow... I forgot to open it first... heh... Turn the knob, and bye!--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity* was here at 23:37, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Broken Redirects

Could you please change the first two redirects here to EB Games to distribute Arceus in Australia please? Turtwig A 01:50, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Done. —darklordtrom 01:54, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Could you also delete the "Twitter account a fake" broken redirect? Turtwig A 00:58, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
A Section Editor would be better to contact for this sort of thing, you know. Trom is most active on Bulbapedia.--RexRacer 01:48, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
The first one was from pre-SE days. I don't mind tidying up around here, though, even if I'm not a Section Editor. (And to be honest if it was on someone else's talk page I'd have probably done it anyway :P). —darklordtrom 04:34, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, they're there, they exist. What about them? —darklordtrom 22:20, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
You said "If something like this already exists then kindly point me in its direction". --immewnitythemew 00:46, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Ah, right. IMO for the sake of consistency across the Bulbawiki network, roundy should be used over rborder. —darklordtrom 01:58, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
How bout we delete roundy and move rborder to roundy? It'd take so much less editing.--immewnitythemew 12:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I recall reading on pedia that incorporating more browser radiuses will put more strain on the server and give more load time...? —darklordtrom 05:46, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Where is this? Plus, Template:Roundy isn't up-to-standards, and Template:Rborder is already widely used.--immewnitythemew 00:50, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I don't know where it was stated, but it was something Jio wrote, so you'd be best to see him. —darklordtrom 04:28, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
He's using it... so now that that is updated, I'll do as much {{rborder}} to {{roundy}} as possible!--immewnitythemew 18:02, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Go ahead :D and I can't really yell at you for the article since I don't really know anything about the TCG. I only do games and anime. tc²₆tc26 02:16, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
The article wasn't horrible, just needed a few touch-ups that involved BulbaBot getting angry... *hits with shovel* --immewnitythemew 02:48, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, my theory was to get the news out there as quick as possible, seeing as it was already a day or so late D:
And... if I was editing it I wouldn't have moved it to the draft space, but that's your prerogative. —darklordtrom 11:59, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

    • Change Ash's Cyndaquil's pic to Ash Quilava.png, but don't delete the pic (for history). Place it on the article. Also fix KG's trivia on the page (should be the last one).

That's okay! I managed to squeeze my edit in before you moved it. I can only imagine your surprise at seeing something completely different there once the move went through :D
My title was probably totally lame, but you can move it again if you want. I'm not overly concerned. —darklordtrom 10:03, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

It was submitted in the original draft for the article about the Pikachu balloon. —darklordtrom 23:27, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Then

Hey trom, you might wanna protect/or something to BW015 if you think it's not confirmed just in case. I only did because I had a source but may be you're right. Sorry, if I caused trouble ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 06:48, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

It's not just about having a source, it's about having a reliable source. When sourcing news for Bulbanews, think about who your source is, and who their source is, and whether they seem trustworthy. —darklordtrom 06:55, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Got it, sorry about that again. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 07:00, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Now, you can un-protect it since Newtype have finally revealed the title. Thanks ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 08:30, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Hehe... That's right and it's done. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 08:58, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Have a question. Do you think it's worth drafting a news on Pokemon TV starts adding Hoenn episodes in their streaming library, on Pokemon.com? Thanks ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 09:48, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I think everything is worth a news article. —darklordtrom 09:50, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I'll try to spend some time in drafting it. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 09:52, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Done, I think it's ready to take off. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 10:22, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion

Hey Trom, since Bulbanews's front page is getting old now I think I've something that we can add to it, it may be a little thing though. Will it be good if we add a new option in the Small Bits section (below news in brief) about the weekly ratings of Best Wishes episodes on TV Tokyo.

For example: 12月9日放送・ポケモンBWは視聴率8.3%(+1.9%) (rating about the last week's episode, we can use English if you want) etc. I think you're getting my point, that's the only way to explain it though. I don't know if anyone cares about it or not but I thought, a new thing won't hurt anyone. What do you think? ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 17:56, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Sounds interesting. I'll run it past Rex when I see him next. —darklordtrom 05:08, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for your interest, Yay! I'll be waiting for your reply. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 13:53, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Just checking every Nintendo site I can find...

...and it seems at least Germany, Italy and Portugal are getting the Celebi event as well. In Germany, it's in various McDonald's between 18 Feb and 27 Feb, plus in some Pokémon Party event on 26th. I don't speak Italian or Portuguese so you might want to contact someone who does. If you feel we need a third news about quite much the same thing, go on, but I'd suggest to melt this into one of the other ones :p UltimateSephiroth 00:25, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Oh, and I forgot to remove the template tagging from the word Celebi when copying text to the blurb, so it kinda broke up the news thread over at the forums. Sorry 'bout that :/ UltimateSephiroth 00:28, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Also, missed Brazil and Canada. UltimateSephiroth 00:42, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Soulweaver. You'll see there's a fat, juicy article sitting on the front page now :D Shame about the apparent lack of UK/AU/NZ/wifi Celebi though... —darklordtrom 10:40, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Hopefully you can see my criticisms in the text above. Note also for the title that numbers should be spelled out and only the first word and proper nouns get capital letters. You may want to read over the manual of style and article submission guide.
Additionally, I was already writing my own report when I found yours; I deleted the misspelled title first and left the other one until afterward. Sorry for any inconvenience and better luck with your future submissions. —darklordtrom 07:04, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm not really familiar with mediawiki, and don't know whether you get notified when I reply on my own user page, so here goes again: That's right, excluding the mention if the footer it wasn't very clear indeed. Well, I'll give a try to a short short bio:

Hercules Papatheodorou or Arty2 as known over the tubes, is by profession an architect based in Greece, but has been spending a very large chunk of his time on the Pokemon fandom ever since it became popular. About the source

http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Draft:Pok%C3%A9mon_Black_and_White_sells_1.08_million_on_day_1_in_US

I know the PR exists. Just, where? I got it secondhand, so I'm not sure whether a forum post is OK. I would really prefer a real PR article. The exact text is like this:

NEW POKÉMON VIDEO GAMES SHATTER U.S. SALES RECORDS

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version Combine to Sell More Than 1 Million in a Single Day

REDMOND, Wash., March 8, 2011 – Two new Pokémon™ video games went on sale on March 6 and promptly shattered all previous U.S. Pokémon sales records. The Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems became the fastest-selling Pokémon video games of all time, selling more than 1.08 million units after just one day of availability. That surpasses the previous one-day sales record of more than 780,000 set by the Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version games in April 2007.

"Longtime Pokémon fans are attracted to the new Pokémon, new battle systems and a new region to explore, while newcomers enjoy the ability to jump in and have fun right away," said Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America's senior director of Corporate Communications. "These sales numbers illustrate the continued strength of the Nintendo DS family of systems. Already established as the nation's best-selling video game platform of all time, the installed base of more than 47 million makes it the ideal hand-held for developers to reach a huge gaming-focused target audience."

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version feature more than 150 new Pokémon for players to catch, train and battle. The never-before-seen Unova region gives players a whole new world to explore. For the first time in the series, in-game environments change with the four seasons. The games also introduce Triple Battles and Rotation Battles, which give players even more choices when battling.

Thanks for updating the story I submitted...

Anyways, sorry about adding the video.
~~LDEJRuff~~ 23:36, 24 May, 2011 (EDT)

I'm guessing it was a video you made yourself? I didn't think it was something that should be run, as it wasn't exactly an official attempt to get the episodes aired, and I'm sure they'll air soon enough.
I guess I can change the image, but since the episode is mainly about Archen I think it'll be okay just to have the same picture. —darklordtrom 03:39, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
