The Version 1.2 patch for {{bp|Pokémon X and Y}} has been released, which fixes several glitches and increases security in online communications. Players cannot connect to the internet with Pokémon X or Y until they download the patch; also, the patch cannot be downloaded unless the player has the latest version of the 3DS firmware. Additionally, {{bp|Rating Battle}}s are now enabled again.

The patch fixes the {{bp|List of glitches in Generation VI#Wonder Trade evolution learnset glitch|Wonder Trade evolution learnset glitch}}, which caused moves learned by Pokémon that evolved by trading through {{bp|Wonder Trade}} to not keep any moves learnt upon evolution. The patch also fixes an issue where the tagline could not be seen in {{bp|Trainer PR Video}}s.

Furthermore, Wi-Fi communications now have additional encryption, which prevents several fan-made exploits that had taken advantage of the previously less secure communication.
