In a seven-day marathon, gaming communiuty Respawn Point achieved their objective of catching every Pokémon, and in the process earned $2,333.33 in donations for Child's Play, a charity that provides toys and video games for sick children.

The catching was streamed 24 hours a day, along with playthroughs of older games such as Pokémon Yellow, and side games like Pokémon Rumble and Pokémon Snap. Numerous prizes were raffled off to donators, including a Pokémon-themed Nintendo DSi with the final Pokémon Black cartridge containing all of the caught Pokémon. Over 100 people contributed to the final amount raised, which surpassed the original target of $1,500 and the revised target of $2,000.

Zack Harrott, who presented much of the week-long event, had this to say to Bulbanews shortly after the marathon finished:

First of all and most importantly I need to say a huge, huge thank you to everybody that watched, took part and donated. Without the stupendous amount of help from the chat, we would never have reached our goal. We've held marathons in the past but this has been the most fun by far. Not only did we break our donation goal (twice!) but with the help of the viewers we managed to get every last Pokémon and still have time to spare! It was a lot of fun to battle, trade and talk to so many different Pokémon fans, and while it was a lot of work, I feel like I could do another marathon right now. Well, maybe after I get a good night's sleep!

In the end we managed to raise $2,333.33 for Child's Play, which is much more than we ever expected to raise and we couldn't have done it without you guys, so once again I'd just like to say thank you!

Child's Play was founded by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins of the gaming webcomic Penny Arcade. Since 2003, Child's Play has donated around nine million dollars in toys and games to children's hospitals around the world.
