CoroCoro reveals further details regarding new Mystery Dungeon
|
The July issue of CoroCoro has revealed further details regarding the upcoming Nintendo DS games, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Time and Darkness Expeditions.
As previously reported, a new game mechanism will be guilds, in particular, the Guild of Wigglytuff. The player and the partner form an expedition team and train at the guild. The guild building consists of an above-ground room and several underground rooms, in which the guild members, including the player and the partner, live and dine.
At the beginning of the game, when the player joins the guild, the top guild member, a Chatot, will take him or her to see the guild master, Wigglytuff. At that point, the player and the partner will form an expedition team and name it. They will then take up residence in the guild: in the morning, there will be an assembly with other guild members and guild master Wigglytuff will give a pep talk. Chatot will then give the player jobs to do, and at the end of the day, the player will return to the guild to sleep.
Other members of the guild include a Loudred who watches the gates and who acts as an alarm clock; a guard, Diglett; a Dugtrio in charge of updating the bulletin boards; a Chimecho in charge of organisation and dining; a Croagunk who mans a special shop; a Sunflora and a Corphish.
As in all Mystery Dungeon games, the floor layout of the dungeons are randomised and different each time the player enters one. The gameplay will be turn-based, and the player will encounter and battle wild Pokémon in the dungeons. The type system and the abilities as featured in the mainline games will be present, though as in the previous Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Pokémon species with two abilities will have both, instead of one of the two. Players may also fling items to cause damage - Gravelerstones and Blast Seeds from the previous game will make an appearance in the new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
Another returning game mechanism are linked moves. This time, an Electivire runs the Link Shop, which is located in Treasure Town. Other businesses in Treasure Town include the Kecleon Shop, the Duskull Bank, and the Kanghaskhan Warehouse.
More than 490 Pokémon will appear in the new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. After defeating wild Pokémon, they will sometimes want to become a friend. As the story progresses, the player can change the composition of his or her team by speaking to Chimecho. Other expedition teams present in the game include Team Poisonrose (チーム ドクローズ), comprised of the Poison-types Skutank, Weezing and Zubat, Team Razor Wind (チーム かまいたち), led by a Zangoose, Team Poppobō (チーム ポッポボー), consisting of a Pidgey and a Seedot, and Team Happys (チーム ハッピーズ), led by a Togepi.
