The Pokémon Video Game Championships site has recently opened, revealing information on the event.

Pokémon Video Game Championships

The Regional Championships will be held on May 9 in Seattle, WA, May 16 in Francisco, CA, May 23 in Phoenix, AZ, May 30 in Dallas, TX, June 6 in Philadelphia, PA and June 13 in Nashville, TN. National Championships or Worlds Qualifier will be from June 27-28 in St. Louis, MO. The Worlds Qualifier in Europe will be on May 30 in London, UK, on June 13 in Berlin, Germany and on June 20 in Paris, France. The invitational World Championships will be held from Aug. 14-15 in San Diego, CA.

All participants are required to use an English-version of Pokémon Platinum. Players will compete in two divisions, depending on the year of their birth. All participants are required to fill out a Team Information Sheet during registration, placing the information on the Pokémon and held items they will be using. The levels of the Pokémon entered should be lower than level 51. Pokémon that are level 51 or higher may not be entered. Certain Pokémon and their forms will also be banned from the championships. These are Mew, Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Rotom, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus. Other rules and restrictions may be found on the link below.

The site also provided information on a distribution that will occur. Participants of the championships may receive a Shiny Milotic, similar to the one given away in Japan last year. The Milotic will be in a Cherish Ball at Level 50 with the moves Rain Dance, Recover, Hydro Pump, and Icy Wind. It will also hold a Flame Orb and a Classic Ribbon, preventing it from being traded over the Global Trade Station.
