The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York has selected Pokémon Red and Green to enter the World Video Game Hall of Fame exhibit as one of the four 2017 inductees. These games were chosen to become one of the 2017 World Video Game Hall of Fame Inductees by being recognised for their popularity over a sustained period and their impact on popular culture.
The other three games selected to enter the Hall of Fame as 2017 Inductees were Donkey Kong, Street Fighter II and Halo: Combat Evolved. These three games and Pokémon Red and Green will all join the Hall of Fame exhibit alongside other well known video games such as Tetris, Pac-Man, and Super Mario Bros which were selected in previous years.
