In the Japanese Trademark Database, some new {{wp|Nintendo}} trademarks have been registered. These include Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, of which {{bp|Generation I}} have already been released. There are possible new titles: Pokémon Black, Pokémon {{tt|Brown|Could be translated into Tea}}, Pokémon White, Pokémon {{tt|Gray|Could be translated into Ash}}, Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Purple, Pokémon {{tt|Crimson|Possibly Red, but unlikely}}, and Pokémon Scarlet. (For unknown reasons there were two Scarlet trademarks, written a tad bit differently in Japanese). These names seem to reflect a return to primary colors as names.
In the Japanese Trademark Database, several previously used {{wp|Nintendo}} trademarks have been registered, including ''Pokémon Red'', ''Pokémon Green'', ''Pokémon Blue'' and ''Pokémon Yellow'', all {{bp|Generation I}} games that have already been released. New trademarks recently registered include ''Pokémon Black'', ''Pokémon Brown'', ''Pokémon White'', ''Pokémon {{tt|Gray|Could be translated into Ash}}'', ''Pokémon Scarlet'', ''Pokémon Purple'', ''Pokémon Crimson'' and ''Pokémon Scarlet'', the last in two variations.

However, Nintendo's registering of the names does not mean they will ever become games. Nintendo has previously registered unused game names for Pokémon, such as ''Opal'', and unused names may be an attempt to discourage bootleg or knockoff games.
