A new advertisement on Pokémon.com has recently appeared. It features the ear of the {{bp|Pokémon}} previously known as the Notched-ear Pichu, but when looking into the URL of said ad's Flash file, it refers to it as the {{bp|Spiky-ear Pichu}}, possibly revealing its English name. There is a chance that this name is only used in-coding for the site, or it could change before the final revelation.

This special {{p|Pichu}} was first featured in the twelfth {{bp|Pokémon movie}}, {{bp|Arceus and the Jewel of Life}}, with an {{bp|event Pokémon}} known as the {{bp|Pikachu-colored Pichu}} distributed to commemorate the said Pichu. The Spiky-eared Pichu is obtained in {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}} after bringing the Pikachu-colored Pichu to the {{bp|Ilex Forest shrine|shrine}} in {{bp|Ilex Forest}}. This female Pichu will join players at {{bp|level}} 30, with the moves {{m4|Volt Tackle|Helping Hand|Swagger|Pain Split}}. It will also hold the {{bp|Zap Plate}}, a reference to its role in the movie.
