The rules will be that of the 2010 Video Game Championships, which allows the use of Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga and Palkia (albeit 3 per team sheet and 2 per team). This means that only the "{{bp|HeartGold|"HeartGold" and "SoulSilver"}} and versions are eligible for the tournament.

The prize for the tournament is currently slated to be a choice of a Japanese copy of the upcoming "{{bp|Pokémon Black and White|"Pokémon Black Version" or "Pokémon White Version"}}. Although this is subject to change.
