The Unova Classic Wi-Fi competition has been announced. Players may sign up between midnight UTC on August 18 and 11:59 p.m. UTC on August 25. The competition will run from midnight UTC on August 26 until 11:59 p.m. UTC on August 28. This competition will use the Triple Battles format, with Mega Stones and Soul Dew banned from being used as a held item. Players born in or after 2001 will be in the Junior/Senior Division. Players born in or before 2000 will be in the Master Division. Junior Division players may only battle between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. local time. There will be 50,000 spots available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The results will be posted some time in Sept.

Pokémon that are numbers 1 through 649 in the National Pokédex may be used, with the exception of the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Pokémon that were transferred from the Generation 5 games may be used in this competition. All Pokémon above level 50 will be automatically set to level 50 for this competition. All Pokémon in the Battle Box will be used in each battle. Every battle will last a maximum of 30 minutes. Players will have 90 seconds to decide the order of the Pokémon that they will use in each battle. Players will have 60 seconds to choose a move or switch out their Pokémon. Players may battle 15 times a day for a maximum of 45.

All participants that win or lose at least three battles will receive a Darmanitan with the Ability Zen Mode, which was used by N in Pokémon Black and White Versions 2. Darmanitan will be level 35 and have the OT N. It will have the moves Belly Drum, Thrash, Flare Blitz and Hammer Arm.
