Inkipedia was founded on Wikia on June 10, 2014, the same day that Splatoon was first announced as a part of {{wp|Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014|Nintendo's 2014 E3 presentation}}. After suggestions from NIWA member {{pk||Pikipedia}} in April of this year, Inkipedia began transitioning into an independent wiki, with the move beginning on May 18. NIWA, short for {{bp|Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance}}, is an alliance consisting of 23 wikis. The first three were {{bp|Bulbapedia}}, {{bp|Zelda Wiki}}, and {{bp|Super Mario Wiki}}. The alliance soon grew to six, later to ten, and now to the current twenty three.
