Bulbapedia will be temporarily closed to editing beginning Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009. This is to allow staff members to carry out heavy maintenance work to several sections of the encyclopedia. Specifically, there will be a large-scale move that may stress the servers on its own. If the site's regular contributors were also to submit edits in this period, the stress might be too substantial for the maintenance to be completed efficiently. For this reason, {{bp|Bulbapedia:Administrators|non-administrators}} will not be able to submit any edits.

There is no reason to be concerned about this. The move will be undertaken for the purpose of having a better and more accurate encyclopedia. Editing privileges will be removed from all users at some point in the afternoon (UTC) and returned by the end of the weekend. This may happen earlier, depending on how quickly the staff are able to sort through their list of tasks.

It is advised that users do not come to the staff requesting more information about what is happening, or whether they will be able to help out. Everything is completely under control, and more about the project will be revealed during the weekend. Nonetheless, thanks for the support through this period of time.
