It was announced that Super Smash Bros. veteran {{OBP|Pikachu|Super Smash Bros.}} will be returning, and the trailer appears to show a new version of the Pokémon Stadium stage present in past titles. However, it is currently unknown whether or not Pikachu will be joined by other characters from the Pokémon franchise. Other characters set to return are {{sbw|Mario}}, {{sbw|Donkey Kong}}, {{sbw|Link}}, {{sbw|Samus Aran|Samus}}, {{sbw|Kirby}}, {{sbw|Fox McCloud|Fox}}, {{sbw|Bowser}} and {{sbw|Pit}}.
