Team Rainbow Rocket is a new villainous team led by {{bp|Giovanni}} (in his {{game|FireRed and LeafGreen|s}} appearance). It is composed of the bosses of villainous teams from previous games, including {{bp|Archie}} and {{bp|Maxie}} (in their {{bp|Generation III}} appearances), {{bp|Cyrus}}, {{bp|Ghetsis}} (in his {{game|Black and White|s}} appearance), and {{bp|Lysandre}}. The team also has a number of Team Rainbow Rocket Grunts. Notably, Gionanni uses {{p|Mewtwo}} in battle. The new battle facility, known as the Battle Agency, allows the player to engage in three-on-three Single Battles using rental Pokémon. The variety of Pokémon that can be rented increases by connecting with other players locally or on the internet. As the player wins battles, their Grade goes up. By connecting with high Grade Trainers, players will be able to rent powerful Pokémon to use in battle. If the player wins lots of battles, they can fight the facility's boss, {{bp|Sophocles}}. Players can earn prizes by battling at this facility, including {{bp|Gold Bottle Cap}}s. Players will be able to collect Totem Stickers, which are located all around the Alola region. Based on how many stickers they have collected, players will be able to obtain {{bp|Totem Pokémon|totem-like Pokémon}}. Which totem-like Pokémon are available differ between Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon; for example, totem-like {{p|Lurantis}} is exclusively available in Pokémon Ultra Sun, while totem-like Salazzle is exclusively available in Pokémon Ultra Moon (notably, Lurantis appears as a Totem Pokémon at the end of a {{bp|island challenge|trial}} in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon while Salazzle appears to have been replaced). The {{bp|QR Scanner}}'s {{bp|Island Scan}} feature will allow the player to encounter Pokémon than it did in Pokémon Sun and Moon. New Pokémon include {{p|Charmander}}, {{p|Grovyle}}, and {{p|Greninja}}. Further details about the wild {{bp|Legendary Pokémon}} that will appear in the worlds beyond {{bp|Ultra Wormhole}}s have been revealed. *{{p|Ho-Oh}}, {{p|Raikou}}, {{p|Groudon}}, {{p|Latios}}, {{p|Dialga}}, {{p|Heatran}}, {{p|Reshiram}}, {{p|Tornadus}}, and {{p|Xerneas}} will be exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Sun. *{{p|Lugia}}, {{p|Entei}}, {{p|Kyogre}}, {{p|Latias}}, {{p|Palkia}}, {{p|Regigigas}}, {{p|Zekrom}}, {{p|Thundurus}}, and {{p|Yveltal}} will be exclusive to Pokémon Ultra Moon. *{{p|Articuno}}, {{p|Zapdos}}, {{p|Moltres}}, {{p|Mewtwo}}, {{p|Suicune}}, {{p|Regirock}}, {{p|Regice}}, {{p|Registeel}}, {{p|Rayquaza}}, {{p|Uxie}}, {{p|Mesprit}}, {{p|Azelf}}, {{p|Giratina}}, {{p|Cresselia}}, {{p|Cobalion}}, {{p|Terrakion}}, {{p|Virizion}}, {{p|Landorus}}, {{p|Kyurem}}, and {{p|Zygarde}} will appear in both versions. **Several of these Pokémon only appear when the player has other Legendary Pokémon: Suicune (with Raikou and Entei present), Rayquaza (with Groudon and Kyogre present), Giratina (with Dialga and Palkia present), Kyurem (with Reshiram and Zekrom present), Landorus (with Tornadus and Thundurus present).
