Talk:Fourth anime series title revealed
Possible connection?
This came to my attention when I was reading another forum:
It's title is Pokemon: Best Wishes but in Romaji, it's called Poketto Monsuta: Besuto Uisshu. Notice the "Isshu"? Maybe the title is not something random? --Mackinz 23:48, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- anyone who can read katakana should be able to notice the subtle difference between ウイッシュ and ウィッシュ after I point it out. It should be ウィッシュ but this series is called "ベストウイッシュ" and strongly suggests that they're trying to mention イッシュ, as Mackinz said. Kanjo 12:27, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think I can agree that "wish" is always normally represented as 「ウィッシュ」 - a Google search for 「ウイッシュ」 reveals lots of results with a full-size イ that have nothing to do with Pokémon. However, I do think that the connection between 「ウイッシュ」 and 「イッシュ」 is too large to be ignored; this was a deliberate choice. (They might even have chosen the region name specifically for this...) Season?
Shouldn't it be "series"? CuboneKing 03:33, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Third?
I don't get this, shouldn't Best Wishes be the fourth series? I know they don't split the series up into seasons in Japan, but there's still the Original Series, Advanced Generation (or whatever it's called in Japan) and Diamond and Pearl - surely that makes Best Wishes the fourth doesn't it? - Yes, you're right about that. Should be fourth, yes Redbullsnation 17:28, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Iris? Is it?
Zooming in far enough, the kana seems closer to アイリコ to me. Which wouldn't match up with English as nicely, sure, and for me doesn't show up in IME as having kanji either (though it makes sense as a Japanese girl's name), but.. would it really be アイリス instead? - Tycho 19:26, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- Nah, that looks like a ス to me. Compare it with the last character in Meowth's name: they're the same. I can see how it looks like a コ, but that's just the distortion due to the small size. George Hutcheon 19:45, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
